Console Port
The Console port is connected to the Com port of a computer for the initial configuration
management of the switch.
4.1.3
FE Port
ZXR10 2609 provides nine 10/100M fast Ethernet ports, 2609-FU provides eight 10/100
M fast Ethernet ports and a fixed 100M optical port (multiple mode 2KM, single mode
15KM, and single mode 40KM can be selected). All ports support automatic MDI/MDI-X
operations. Switches can be connected to PCs, servers, hubs or other switches with
straight-through or crossover cables.

Each port supports IEEE802.3x self-adaptation. Therefore, the most suitable
communication mode (half duplex or full duplex) and data rate (10 Mbps or 100 Mbps)
can be selected automatically. (The connected equipment must also support this
feature.) If the equipment connected to these ports does not support self-adaptation, the
ports will adopt the peer rate, but the default communication mode will be half duplex.
The rate control is subject to a granularity of 64 K. The ingress can be configured with
any of the following policies: all frame restricted, multicast frame and flooded unicast
frame restricted, multicast frame (including broadcast) restricted, and broadcast frame
restricted.
Each port of the 2609, 2609-FU has a LNK/ACT indicator. If the indicator is on, the link
is activated. If the indicator blinks, data transfer is going on.
4.1.4
Cabling
The ZXR10 2600 series switches all adopts the front cabling for the convenience of
engineering implementation and clear cable routing.
