Chapter 7 Installing GPS Antenna Feeder System

Caution!

There is no any blockage within the 150 degrees viewpoint for the GPS antenna.

Make sure that it meets the installation and lightning requirements on GPS antenna.

The installation position of GPS antenna shall have the open view and no any

blockage within 90 degrees, to make sure that the GPS antenna can trace the

satellites as many as possible.

ii.

Do not install the GPS antenna below the microwave antenna, high-voltage cable,

and TV transmitting tower, and it can not be impacted by the radiation of primary

lobe for the mobile antenna.

iii. To avoid the direct strike or inductive strike, the GPS antenna shall be installed at

the position with 5 m distance from the ground below the tower. The GPS antenna

pole shall have the horizontal distance 30 cm from the tower. As shown in 9.3-19,

the antenna pole shall be grounded and the pole diameter is 30 ~ 65 mm.

iv. The GPS antenna shall be installed within the 45 degrees lightning prevention

area for the tower or roof lightning rod. If it is not located in the lightning prevention

area, you shall ask the operator to specially make and install the lightning rod for

the GPS antenna. The lightning rod shall be reliably grounded, as shown in

Figure

7-25
