Clock Interface
There are four coaxial connectors on the PCI panel, from left to
right, two 2 M bit/s or 2 M Hz/s clock input connectors and two 2
M bit/s or 2 M Hz/s clock output connectors. The clock type (BIT
or HZ) is set by the NMS. When the clock is not set by the NMS,
it can be set by the jumper in the board.
RPR Technology
ZXA10 S300 supports the resilient packet ring (RPR) technology.
Introduction
RPR technology uses a dual counter rotating fiber ring topology.
Both rings (inner and outer) are used to transport working traffic
between nodes. By utilizing both fibers, instead of keeping a
spare fiber for protection, RPR utilizes the total available ring
bandwidth. These fibers or ringlets are also used to carry control
(topology updates, protection, and bandwidth control) messages.
Control messages flow in the opposite direction of the traffic that
they represent. For instance, outer-ring traffic-control
information is carried on the inner ring to upstream nodes.
Features
The RPR technology has the features below:
With the resiliency, RPR supports the ring protection function.
It supports the source navigation technology and bridge
protection.
RPR supports spatial reuse.
Packets are removed at their destination nodes, leaving this
bandwidth available to downstream nodes on the ring. In this
way, the ring space is fully used. However, some special
packets such as multicast packets and broadcast packets are
still removed at their source nodes.
Figure 18 shows the function of special reuse.
