Blade service life
Blades for fretsaws are relatively fragile and
they can easily break. It therefore requires
some practice to use a fretsaw optimally
and get the blades to last as long as
possible.
The blades are particularly vulnerable
when sawing hard wood, plywood or other
hard materials or if you are applying side
pressure to the blade. Sawing wood that is
thicker than the blade’s travel is also tough
on the blade.
When sawing thin or hard wood, use a
blade with fine teeth.
When sawing sharp curves, use a narrow
blade.
Note: The blade must only saw in a
downward direction.
If the blade is blunt, it must be replaced.
Cleaning and maintenance
Remove sawdust and dirt using a vacuum
cleaner, compressed air or a brush.
Check that the motor ventilation slots are
not blocked.
The fretsaw can be cleaned by wiping its
exterior parts with a damp cloth.
Never use strong or corrosive detergents.
