Grounding
Important!
It is necessary to have your Phonostage plugged into a
proper three pin electrical grounded outlet. Grounding is a safety
issue as well as a potential source of noise problems.
The ground switches only work with the MC SE inputs. Although all
the other switches on the back panel should be in the same posi-
tion for the left and right channels, the ground switches work inde-
pendently. You can adjust them for the least amount of noise.
Example; Right channel up, left channel down
Right channel down, left channel up
Right channel up, left channel up
Right channel down, left channel down
If you have RCA inputs start with both ground switches up.
If you have XLR inputs start with both ground switches down.
MC Load Adjustments
Start at 1000 Ohms on the rotary switch. The range is 1000 to 20
Ohms in eight steps. You can reduce the load value down, making
sure not go below the cartridge manufacturer’s recommended set-
tings. Find one that sounds good on your system. Load settings can
be done while the unit is
Turned On
. Keep the volume low, while
carefully making these adjustments.
Volume
If the volume is louder on one channel then the other, you may
want to try switching the back tubes around. With the unit
Turned
Off,
use the white glove provided and switch the back tubes only,
not the front tubes.
Tube Rolling
This is a common practice in the industry to upgrade your tubes.
You may use any 12AX7, ECC83 or equivalent only. The wrong
type of tube can cause considerable damage. Any damage caused
by tube rolling is not covered by the manufacturers warranty.
