Ceiling Opening Preparation
1. The hood should always be centered over the cooktop. Make sure there is adequate space in the
ceiling structure to install the hood and ductwork.
2. The hood should be mounted 30” to 72” above the cooktop for best removal of cooking impurities.
Use joist size lumber to frame in around the range hood opening. The ceiling structure must be
able to support the weight of the hood (FIG. B). ALU-E43 weighs 65 pounds and ALU-E63 weighs
85 pounds.
3. For non-ducted version, refer to FIG. C. Make a cut-out in the ceiling for the air return vent.
