NOTES ON INSTRUMENT SAFETY
Particular attention must be paid to the following warnings:
DANGER
Risk of damage to the device from penetrating moisture
−
Devices with a mains connection and their accessories (particularly external table power
pack) must not come into contact with moisture or liquids.
−
If the housing of devices or accessories that conduct mains voltage (e.g. table power pack)
is damaged, these must be permanently taken out of service and disconnected from the
mains.
−
Non-compliance in both cases results in exposure to life-threatening mains voltage.
WARNING
Risk of electric shock
−
Always switch off the device and pull out the power plug before cleaning or opening the
device.
−
Disconnect the power plug before changing device fuses. Failure to do so may result in
contact with life-threatening mains voltage.
WARNING
Risk of eye injury
When LED light sources are being used with the microscope, please note the following:
−
Optical radiation (e.g. LED radiation) is emitted. Do not look into the beam. This may cause
damage to the eyes.
−
Available protective measures (e.g. anti-glare protection) should be used.
−
If present, do not look into the fiber optic cable of a light source, to prevent damage to the
eyes.
WARNING
Risk of UV radiation
Please note the following when handling UV light sources:
−
Gas-discharge lamps, LED lights and other sources of white light may emit ultraviolet
radiation. This can cause burns to the eyes and skin.
−
When using the microscope, always use the protective devices provided with the device
(e.g. special attenuation filters, anti-glare protection or fluorescence shield).
