1. General
Congratulations! Your dwelling has been fi tted with a
Zehnder comfort-unit ventilation system. This system
has been installed in order to provide your house with
fresh air at a pleasant temperature.
For optimum user comfort, it is essential to understand
how the system works and how to operate it. Please
therefore read this manual carefully.
ComfoCool Q600
In combination with a ComfoAir Q600 ST (henceforth
called “heat-recovery unit”), the ComfoCool Q600
is designed to regulate to comfortable levels the
temperature and humidity of the fresh air supplied to
your dwelling. This creates a comfortable and pleasant
indoor climate.

What is ventilation?
Did you know that we spend at least 70% of our time
between 4 walls? That may seem a lot, but think about
it: during the day we work indoors, in the evening we live
indoors and at night we sleep between 4 walls. So, most
of the time, our lives are spent indoors. There is nothing
wrong with being indoors, but we need to ventilate well.
Breathing generates CO
2
in your home. Furthermore,
damp (caused by perspiration, cooking and showering)
inside the house not only causes condensation,
mould and odours, but also increases the risk of
health problems due to reduced air quality (higher CO
2
concentrations). So in order to improve the air quality
in your house, you must ventilate. Opening a window
for ten minutes only has a short-term effect. As soon as
you close it, the fresh outside air quality disappears. It is
therefore vital to ventilate 24 hours a day.
Use of the unit
The unit may only be used when it is properly installed
according to the instructions and guidelines in the
installer manual of the unit.
The unit can be used by:
■
children aged from 8 years and above;
■
persons with reduced physical capabilities;
■
persons with reduced sensory capabilities;
■
persons with reduced mental capabilities;
■
persons with lack of experience and knowledge,
if they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of the unit in a safe way and
understand the hazards involved.
Children shall not play with the unit. Cleaning and user
maintenance shall not be carried out by children without
supervision.
2. Guarantee and liability
For further information please refer to the fi tting
instructions.
If you suspect a defect, please observe the following
safety precautions:
1. Never open the unit. Repairs should only be carried
out by a recognised fi tter.
2. The ComfoCool Q600 contains coolant (R134a). This
coolant is colourless, non-toxic and non-fl ammable.
The volume of coolant in the ComfoCool Q600 is
so small that it cannot possibly lead to hazardous
concentrations in your dwelling. The unit has been
designed to prevent coolant from leaking under
normal operating conditions.
If you detect a faint, ether-like smell:

Do not touch the unit for at least one hour;
■
Open windows and doors in the room in which the
unit is located for at least an hour;
■
Contact your installer.
3. Operating principles
Your system consists of a number of components,
including a heat-recovery unit and a ComfoCool
Q600. These devices are controlled using the heat-
recovery unit’s display, ComfoSense C or Control App.

In the winter, the heat-recovery unit ensures energy-
effi cient ventilation in your dwelling, using the energy
from the stale exhaust air to heat the supply air to a
comfortable temperature. In the summer the system
ensures energy-effi cient air temperation for your
