12. Dependencies
The build system counts on the availability of a few packages, all installed by default by most Linux
distributions. If the build aborts with an error then most likely your installation is lacking one or more of these
packages.
mtd-utils:
JFFS2 and UBI utilities.
For Ubuntu 10.x, use the following command to install the needed packages:
sudo apt-get install mtd-utils
For Fedora Core, use the following command to install the needed packages:
sudo yum install mtd-utils mtd-utils-ubi
Note: Fedora Core 14 has mkfs.ubifs, but Fedora Core 12 and 13 do not have it.
13. Updating Firmware
13.1 Web Server
1.
Locate the *.img file on your Z3 Server Account
2.
Select correct *.img file and save it on your computer
3.
Power on the Z3-DM8169-VI-RPS
4.
Connect the Ethernet cable from the Z3-DM8169-VI-RPS directly to the PC
5.
For a client PC to access the Z3-DM8169-VI-RPS, set the IP address of the PC to 192.168.81.XX
6.
Open Firefox or Internet Explorer 8 (or above) as your web browser
7.
Type the IP address of the Z3-DM8169-VI-RPS in your web browser (
) and the
Z3-DM8169-VI-RPS web configuration menu will appear.
8.
Press the “Update” button at the top of the menu
9.
Browse and select the *.img file was saved onto your PC
10.
Press update to update the Z3-DM8169-VI-RPS system
11.
Power cycle system for clean boot and system should be updated.
14.
Troubleshooting
No video is usually caused by networking issues.
