4. Couple the probe to the reference block( the thickness is 220mm and the probe diameter is
φ
5)
completely and adjust gate A start to lock the highest bottom echo.
5. Choose sensitivity submenu in AVG menu, and set the relative value. Press Ok, and the instrument
sets the gain automatically according to the
φ
value of sensitivity.
6. Choose AVG curve submenu in AVG menu to set the
φ
value of AVG curve, then press Ok. The
instrument makes AVG curve automatically.
After making AVG curve, all the parameters except for velocity can be adjusted. The AVG curve
will then change according to the parameters, and the detecting result will not be influenced.
B. Hole mode
1. Calibrate the instrument first. Check “Straight beam probe zero calibration” for details.
2. Press
twice to enter into probe type submenu, then choose “Nor pro” (straight beam probe).
Adjust the probe frequency in the “Pro fre” submenu, and set the size of the probe connected in “Pro
dia” (probe diameter) submenu.
3. Press
for three times to enter into “AVG mode” submenu, and choose “Hole”.
4. Couple the probe to the reference block( the thickness is 220mm and the probe diameter is
φ
5)
completely and adjust gate A start to lock the highest flaw echo.
5. Choose aperture submenu in AVG menu, and set the relative value. It is
φ
5 in this case.
6. Choose AVG curve submenu in AVG menu to set the
φ
value of AVG curve, then press Ok. The
instrument makes AVG curve automatically.
Note: when detecting with “Bottom” mode, gate A should lock the highest bottom echo and the
height of the echo should be 20% ~90% of the full screen. Set the sensitivity first, then press Ok. And
then set
φ
value of AVG curve.
Chapter 5 Skills of Using the Instrument
When you use the instrument to detect the work piece, it is very necessary to make full use of all
sorts of powerful functions of the instrument to guarantee the accuracy of the detection and to improve
efficiency. Next we are going to focus on and explain the flexible usage of some important functions of
the instrument.
5.1 Flexible Usage of the Gate
By adjusting the start of Gate A, its width, and its height, you can use Gate A to catch the echo
signal to be measured, you can also directly read the sound path, the horizontal distance, the vertical
distance, and other values of the echo inside the gate on the screen.
By setting the gate mode, you can set Gate A and B as the afferent echo alarm gate and the echo
loss alarm gate.
