Execution with the Configuration Tool
If you first connect the slave devices and start the GW3100, you can then start the Configura-
tion Tool on the PC and click the
Self Configuration
Button on the Main Window to execute
self configuration.
Refer to the following chapter for information on connecting the GW3100 to the PC and for the
installation and startup methods for the Configuration Tool.
5.2.3
Operation Specifications for Self Configuration
Self configuration of the GW3100 operates on the following specifications.
•
Pack Mode allocations are used if the I/O Gateway Mode is set.
•
If the maximum number of connectable M-II slave devices is exceeded (eight stations for I/O
Gateway Mode and one station for Transparent Mode), allocations are performed in order
starting from the smallest station address. Stations that exceed the maximum number of
connectable stations are ignored.
•
If slave stations that are not I/O devices are connected when I/O Gateway Mode is selected
(i.e., MODE pin turned OFF), the slave stations will not be detected when self configuration is
executed.
•
If no slave stations are detected when self configuration is executed, communications will not
be performed for the M-II port. In this case, the M-III port will operate for standard I/O with 32
input bytes and 32 output bytes.
•
During self configuration, 32-byte M-II slaves are detected first and then 17-byte M-II slaves
are detected.
•
The transmission cycle for the M-II port is set to the minimum cycle that can be set.
•
If self configuration is executed in Transparent Mode, the transmission cycle will be set to 1
ms.
