WARNING

EWA13090

• Use only the designated brake fluid. Other

brake fluids may cause the rubber seals to

deteriorate, causing leakage and poor

brake performance.

• Refill with the same type of brake fluid that

is already in the system. Mixing brake fluids

may result in a harmful chemical reaction,

leading to poor brake performance.

• When refilling, be careful that water does

not enter the brake fluid reservoir. Water

will significantly lower the boiling point of

the brake fluid and could cause vapor lock.

NOTICE

ECA13540

Brake fluid may damage painted surfaces

and plastic parts. Therefore, always clean up

any spilt brake fluid immediately.

EAM30231

CHECKING THE FRONT BRAKE PADS

The following procedure applies to all of the
brake pads.

Replace the brake pads as a

set.
Refer to “FRONT BRAKE” on page 4-16.

EAM30232

CHECKING THE REAR BRAKE PADS

The following procedure applies to all of the
brake pads.
1. Operate the brake.
2. Check:

Rear brake pad
Wear indicator grooves “1” almost disap-
peared

Replace the brake pads as a set.

Refer to “REAR BRAKE” on page 4-27.

EAM30478

CHECKING THE FRONT BRAKE HOSE

1. Check:

Brake hose
Cracks/damage/wear

 Replace.

2. Check:

Brake hose clamp
Loose connection

 Tighten the clamp bolt.

3. Stand the vehicle upright and apply the front

brake several times.

4. Check:

Brake hose
Brake fluid leaks

 Replace the damaged

brake hose.
Refer to “FRONT BRAKE” on page 4-16.

5. Check:

Protector “1”
Out of specification

 Replace.

TIP

The protector reaches the limit of its use when it
is worn down to the same height “a” as of the
plastic locking tie circumference.
