CHAS

FRONT AND REAR BRAKES

5. Lubricate:

• rear brake caliper retaining bolts

CAUTION:

• Do not allow grease to contact the brake

pads.

• Remove any excess grease.

6. Install:

• rear brake caliper retaining bolt

7. Install:

• rear brake caliper bracket bolts

8. Check:

• brake fluid level

Below the minimum level mark

→

Add

the recommended brake fluid to the proper
level.
Refer to “CHECKING THE BRAKE FLUID
LEVEL” in chapter 3.

9. Check:

• brake pedal operation

Soft or spongy feeling

→

Bleed the brake

system.
Refer to “BLEEDING THE HYDRAULIC
BRAKE SYSTEM (XP500)” and “BLEED-
ING THE BRAKE SYSTEM (XP500A)” in
chapter 3.

Recommended lubricant

Lithium-soap-based grease

27 Nm (2.7 m · kg, 19 ft · lb)
