6. Remove cowling C. (See page
7. Remove the oil filter cartridge with
an oil filter wrench.
TIP
An oil filter wrench is available at a
Yamaha dealer.
8. Apply a thin coat of clean engine
oil to the O-ring of the new oil filter
cartridge.
TIP
Make sure that the O-ring is properly
seated.
9. Install the new oil filter cartridge,
and then tighten it to the specified
torque.
10. Install the cowling.
11. Install the engine oil drain bolts
and their new gasket, and then
tighten the bolts to the specified
torques.
12. Refill with the specified amount of
the recommended engine oil.
TIP
Using a funnel is recommended.
13. After checking the engine oil filler
cap O-ring, install the filler cap.
TIP
Wipe off any spilled oil before starting
the engine.
14. Start the engine and let it idle while
checking for oil leaks.
TIP
If any oil leaks are found which you
cannot fix, have the vehicle inspected.
