NOTE:
Install the new valve guide using a valve guide
installer
2 and valve guide remover 1 .
After installing the valve guide, bore the valve
guide using a valve guide reamer
3 to obtain
proper stem-to-guide clearance.
Valve guide remover (6 mm):
90890-04064
Valve guide installer (6 mm):
90890-04065
Valve guide reamer (6 mm):
90890-04066
Reface the valve seat after replacing the valve
guide.
3. Eliminate:
Carbon deposits (from the valve face)
4. Inspect:
Valvel face
Pitting/ wear
Grind the face.
Valve stem end
Mushroom shape or diameter larger than the
body of the stem
Replace.
5. Measure:
Margin thickness
a
Out of specification Replace.
Margin thickness:
Intake
0.8
1.2 mm
Exhaust
0.8
1.2 mm
6. Measure:
Runout (valve stem)
Out of specification
Replace.
Runout:
Less than 0.03 mm
Always replace the guide when installing a
new valve.
Always replace the oil seal if the valve is re-
moved or replaced.
