timing chain guide (exhaust side)

S

When installing the timing chain guide, be sure
to keep the timing chain as tight as possible on
the exhaust side.

S

Make sure the match marks 

a

 are parallel

with the edge of the cylinder head.

6. Install:

S

intake camshaft
(with the camshaft sprocket temporarily
tightened)

S

Make sure the punch mark on the camshaft
face up.

S

When installing the intake camshaft, be sure to
keep the timing chain as tight as possible be-
tween the exhaust camshaft sprocket and in-
take camshaft sprocket.

7. Install:

S

dowel pins

S

intake camshaft caps

S

Make sure each camshaft cap is installed in its
original place.

S

Make sure the arrow mark 

a

 on each cam-

shaft cap points towards the right side of the
engine.

8. Install:

S

camshaft cap bolts

Tighten the camshaft cap bolts in stages and in
a crisscross pattern, working from the inner
caps out.
