144 MHz UNIT
The incomin g 1 44 MHz signal is fed through a low
pass filter, consistin g of L1os, C116, and C111 to
RL101. On receive, the signal is amplified by
Q6os
(3SK51 )
.
The output from Q6os is fed
through a 4-stage bandpass filter. Gate 2 of the RF
amplifier is connected through a large resistor to
the front panel RF GA IN control.

thus effectively eliminatin g
spurious responses. The signal is then amplified by
the amplifier chain, consistin g of Q602

and
delivered
to
the
final
amplifier,
Q101
(VP-20BL).
The signal is then fed to the mixer, Q6o6
(3SK51),
where the incomin g signal is heterodyned with a
loc al signal of 11 6 or 11 8 MHz, producing an IF
signal of 2 8-30 MHz which is fed through a
diode switch to the 10 M OUTPUT jack.
A portion of the output signal at the power
module is amplified by Q61 2
(2SC181 SY)
for ALC
purposes. A portion of the output signal is also
fed to Q611
(2SC1815Y),
which acts as a switch
for the AFP circuit, which will protect Q101 from
damage caused by high SWR. A f urther portion of
the output is detected by 0702
(1S1555)
and fed
to the meter, for an indication of relative power
output.
The local signal is generated at 3 8.666 MHz by
Q601
(2SC784R),
then delivered to tripler Q6os
(2SC784R),
then delivered throu gh buffer Q6o9
(2SC784R)
to gate 2 of Q6o6 . For repeater
operation, the local signal is shifted up or down
600 kHz, dependin g on the position of the front
panel RPT switch.
The supply voltage is re gulated at 8 volts by
Qs10
(78L08).
For transmission, the 2 8 -30 MHz input signal is
f ed to Q601
(MC1496G),
where it is mixed with
t he local signal delivered from Q609. The 1 44-
1 48 MHz signal is then fed through a selective
