g) Wear personal protective equipment. Depending on the work being performed
wear a safety mask covering your whole face, eye protection or safety goggles.
If appropriate wear a dust mask, ear protection, safety gloves or special aprons,
which keep small grinding and material particles away from you.
Your eyes should be protected from foreign bodies that are flying around, which
are produced during various applications. Dust or breathing masks must filter the
dust that is generated during the application. You can suffer a hearing loss if you are
exposed to loud noise for a long period of time.
h) Ensure that other people keep a safe distance away from your working
area. Everyone who enters the working area must wear personal protective
equipment.
Fragments of the workpiece or broken insertion tools can fly off and even cause
injuries outside of the direct working area.
i) Only hold the tool on the insulated handle if you are performing work in which
the insertion tool can strike concealed power lines or its own mains cable.
Contact with live lines can also charge metallic tool parts and lead to an electric
shock.
j) Keep the mains cable away from rotating insertion tools.
If you lose control of the tool the mains cable can be severed or caught up and
your hand or your arm can be caught in the rotating insertion tool.
k) Never put the power tool down until the insertion tool has come to a complete
standstill.
The rotating tool can come into contact with the surface that it is placed on which
can result in you losing control of the power tool.
l) Do not operate the tool when you are walking with it.
Your clothing can be caught up with the rotating insertion tool due to accidental
contact with it and the insertion tool can drill a hole into your body.
m) Regularly clean the ventilation slits of your power tool.
The motor fan draws dust into the casing and a great deal of metal dust accumulation
can cause electrical hazards.
n) Do not use the power tool in the vicinity of flammable materials.
Sparks can ignite these materials.
o) Do not use any power tools that require liquid refrigerants.
The use of water or other liquid refrigerants can lead to an electric shock.
Further safety precautions for all applications
Recoil and corresponding safety directions
A recoil is a sudden reaction caused by a pinching or locked rotating insertion tool such
as a grinding disk, a grinding pad, a wire brush etc. Catching or locking leads to an abrupt
stoppage of the rotating insertion tool. As a result an uncontrolled power tool will be
accelerated against the direction of the insertion tool at the locking point.
