Do not operate the log splitter when under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication.
They could affect your ability to use it properly. Do not use this appliance if you are tired or
distracted. Watch what you are doing at all times. Use common sense.
AVOID DANGEROUS CONDITIONS
Keep the work area clean and well lit. Cluttered areas, poor visibility and darkness invite
injuries. Do not use the log splitter in wet or damp areas or expose it to rain. Do not use on
slippery, wet, muddy or icy surface. Choose a flat, dry surface free from any tall grass or
other interference. Keep the working area clear of any tools, wood pieces or other objects.
Remove sawdust and wood waste from the working area. Do not use the log splitter in areas
where fumes from paint, solvents or flammable liquids pose a potential hazard. Make sure
that there is enough space around the log splitter for the logs, eventual auxiliary devices and
the operator. Never start or run the machine in an enclosed room. Engine exhaust is dan-
gerous because it contains carbon monoxide, an odourless and deadly gas. Use the machine
only in a well-ventilated area outdoors.
INSPECT YOUR LOG SPLITTER
Check the log splitter before turning it on. Keep guards in place and in working order. Form
a habit of checking to see that keys and adjusting wrenches are removed from the working
area before turning the log splitter on. Replace damaged, missing or failed parts before us-
ing it.
DRESS PROPERLY
Do not wear loose clothing, gloves, necklaces or jewelry (rings, wrist watches). They can be
caught in moving parts. Protective gloves and non-skid footwear are recommended when
working. Wear protective hair covering to contain long hair, preventing it from getting
caught in machinery.
PROTECT YOUR EYES AND FACE
The log splitter may throw foreign objects into the eyes and cause permanent eye damage.
Always wear eye protection. Everyday eyeglasses have only impact resistant lenses. They are
not safety glasses.
KEEP BYSTANDERS AND CHILDREN AWAY
The log splitter must always be operated by one person only. Other people must stay at a
safe distance from the working area especially when the motor is running. Never allow other
people to help you with freeing a jammed log.
INSPECT THE LOGS
Make sure there are no nails or foreign objects in logs to be split. The ends of the logs must
be cut square. Branches must be cut of flush with the trunk. Cross-grain splitting is not al-
lowed. Never try to split two logs simultaneously. Never try to split logs that are not straight
on the work table. Never place your hands on top of the log when loading it on the splitter.
DO NOT OVERREACH
Keep proper footing and balance at all times. Never stand on the machine. Serious injury
could occur if the machine tips or if the cutting tools are unintentionally contacted. Do not
store any objects above or near the machine so that someone might stand on the machine
to reach them.
