Hydraulic System
B) Electrically-Operated Valve
This valve (see Figure 7
42) is fully electric and has one more section than the pneumatically-
operated valve. This added section is used to generate a pilot pressure and is subject to various
pressure adjustments which must be made carefully to ensure optimal system operation. This is the
key to a successful and satisfactory adjustment of the system.
To make these adjustments, the electric system must operate normally because an electric power
input is required to adjust the pilot pressure properly.
Pressure adjustment procedure:
1.
Disconnect the closing solenoid from the tailgate section of the valve.
2.
Connect a 0-1000 psi pressure gauge to the quick coupler on the valve pilot section (see Figure
42).
3.
Start the engine and engage the hydraulic pump.
4.
Press and keep holding the Tailgate Down button on the control panel.
There should be a tension applied to the Pilot Pressure Generating Solenoid.
5.
With the engine at idle, adjust the generated pilot pressure using the adjustment screw
42).
The correct pressure value is 420 psi (± 20 psi).
6.
Reconnect the tailgate solenoid.
7.
Press and keep holding the Tailgate Down button on the control panel.
8.
Adjust the maximum pilot pressure using the adjustment screw (see Figure 7
42).
The correct pressure value is 550 psi (± 20 psi).
For adjusting the main system pressure, proceed in the same way as for a pneumatically-operated
valve.
