8. Faults, causes, remedies
WARNING! Switch the pump OFF before doing
any work on it!
9. Spare parts
All spare parts must be ordered through the Wilo
customer service.
Please state all data shown on the rating plate
with each order to avoid queries and incorrect
orders.
Faults Causes Remedies
Pump is running but does not deliver Internal parts are obstructed by foreign
bodies Dismantle the pump and clean it
Suction pipe obstructed Clean all the pipes
Air in suction pipe Check the tightness of the whole pipe up
to the pump, and tighten it
The pump is empty Fill the pump in to prime it again
Suction pressure is too low; this is gene-
rally accompanied by cavitation noises Loss of suction head or suction head is
too large
Supply voltage to the motor is too low Check the voltage at the terminals of
the motor and the cross-sections of the
conductors
Strainer is not immersed Immerse the strainer (min. 20 cm). Ballast
the flexible pipe if necessary
Pump vibrates Loose on its foundation Check the screws of the stud bolts and
tighten them completely
Pump is obstructed by foreign bodies Dismantle the pump and clean it
Pump is hard to turn Check if the pump turns freely without
abnormal sticking (pump stopped)
Incorrect electrical connection Check the connections to the pump
Pump overheats Voltage too low Check the voltage on the motor termi-
nals; it should be within ± 10 % (50 Hz)
Pump is obstructed by foreign bodies Dismantle the pump and clean it
Ambient temperature above +40°C The motor is designed to operate at an
ambient temperature of not more than
+40°C
Altitude > 1000 m Motor is designed to operate at an alti-
tude ≤ 1000
Motor does not run No current Check the electrical power
Hydraulic part blocked Clean the pump
Thermal sensor release Let the motor cool down
Pump delivers insufficient pressure The motor fails to run at its normal
speed (foreign bodies, defective power
supply, etc.) Dismantle the pump and correct the
problem
The motor is faulty Replace it
Wearing of the internal elements Replace them
The flow is irregular The suction head (HA) is exceeded Reread the installation conditions and
recommendations in this data sheet
The diameter of the suction pipe is
smaller than that of the pump The suction pipe must have the same
diameter as the pump’s suction port
The strainer and suction pipe are
partially obstructed Remove and clean it
