Routing power from the DVD/CD-RW drive.
We have included power splitter cables that will route power from the DVD/CD-RW drive
to all two or four of the SATA drives attached to the G5JAM and JAM+ Side Plate. The
first step is to unplug the IDE connector from the motherboard. The picture at the left
shows the connector below the DVD/CD-RW drive compartment. Notice the opening
used for the IDE connector. This is the same opening that will be used for the power
connectors to pass through.

Removing the DVD/ CD-RW drive.
Next you will need to remove the DVD/CD-RW drive. Release the two clamps that hold
the drive in place.
The drive will slide straight out of the G5. You may have to slide the access door down
and assist the removal from the front of the G5. Use extreme caution when moving the
access door. It is not overly fragile, but we don’t want you to do anything that would
damage the functionality of the door.
3.
Connecting “Y” cables to add connectors.
Remove the power connector from the CD/DVD drive.
4.
Connect the Y-adapter to the power plug and one connector to the CD/DVD drive.
