Line
Separate
rheostats permit independent setting of the
24 volts resistance and 24 volts reactance
compensation (both on a 120 volt base) . This
value of compensation is available only when
the main current transformer is delivering
a full 5 amperes to the tap changer control.
(An auxiliary current transformer (ACT)
steps this current down from 5 amperes to
the .2 ampere rating of the compensator
elements. Line drop compensation is ob
tained by circulating a current, proportional
to the load current, through the line drop
compensator network to simulate the actual
voltage drop in the line for which the com
pensator is adjusted. The compensator volt
age, when subtracted from the output voltage
of the transformer or regulator, gives a
resultant which is equivalent in magnitude
and Qhase angle to the load center voltage.

mal line drop compensation the Reactance
Switch (XRS) on the CVR-1 sub-panel is left
