Install electrical kit
1. Disconnect the battery.
2. –MY12: Remove the socket with the jumper link (no longer required) from the vehicle-side 14-
pole socket connector (Fig. 1/2) and connect and click in the 14-pole socket from the socket
wiring harness.
3. MY13-: Remove the 2 counter-sockets (no longer required) from the vehicle-side 2- and 14-
pole socket connector (Fig. 1/2) and connect and click in the 2- and 14-pole socket from the
socket wiring harness.
Fit the socket
4. Feed the microswitch housing and the contact insert through the hole in the socket mounting
(Fig. 1/1).
5. Push the 3-pin housing on the microswitch into the socket (check the encoding) and then push
it in.
6. Push the 13-pin contact support into the socket housing (check the coding) until you hear it
latch into place.
7. Screw the socket to the cross tube or socked mounting (Fig. 1/1) using the screws supplied,
torque setting: max. 2.0 Nm.
Check operation
8. Re-connect the vehicle battery.
9. Coding is done on the ServiceNet or contact the NSC.
10. Then, as in the beginning, perform a system request via the "Guided trouble shooting" and
delete any possible error codes.
11. Check the functions of the trailer using a suitable test device (with load resistances) or with a
trailer attached.
12. Secure all cables with cable ties and re-fit all parts disassembled.
