Using
Operating and Storing Hints
Do not place more than 80% of the container’s volume. The ingredients in the
vacuum food saver should be away from the valve (4) in order to keep the
valve working properly.
The vacuum food savers are microwave-safe. Only use the vacuum food
savers for reheating purpose and do not heat the food savers for more than 3
minutes in the microwave (power of 800 – 900 W). Do not cook food in the
container into the microwave. The valve (4) enables steam escape, whenever
you reheat food in the food savers. The vacuum food savers are heat-proof
up to +120°C.
The vacuum food savers are freezer-safe up to -20°C. If you want to thaw
frozen foodstuff in the vacuum food saver, keep the food saver with the frozen
food in the fridge. Do not leave the frozen foodstuff to thaw at room tempera-
ture. Keep in mind that the vacuum food savers are not sterile inside although
there is a vacuum.
Keep all foodstuffs that need to be stored under low temperature such as
torte, cream etc. with vacuum in the fridge. Never leave the vacuum food
saver with perishable food at room temperature.
The vacuum food savers are perfect for marinating and pickling food. With the
inside vacuum, marinating is done in minutes. The vacuum process opens the
pores of the food and absorbs the marinade more quickly.
Foodstuffs that give off gases, such as soft cheese, mushrooms, garlic,
onions are not suitable to be stored in the vacuum food saver.
In order to store berries without crushing them, first wash and dry the berries
completely. Store the berries for approx. 2 hours in the refrigerator. Take the
berries out of the refrigerator and store them in the vacuum food saver.
Storing time in the vacuum food saver depends on the freshness of the
foodstuff, they way the foodstuff is prepared and whether or not the vacuum
food savers are used correctly.
If you store coffee (beans or powdered) keep in mind that effusing oil can soil
the valve. Place a coffee filter on top of the coffee before placing the lid on.
The coffee filter will catch the oils.
Occasionally after long period of storage the indicator can rise up. Just pump
the handle to reseal the food saver.
