BEFORE STARTING THE GENERATOR
1. Verify that the generator is outside on a dry, level sur-
face. Allow at least two feet of clearance on all sides.
2. To maximize safety, check that the generator is properly
grounded (see “Ground the Generator”).
3. Check there is sufficient level of oil in the crankcase. Add
oil if necessary (see “Add/check Oil”).
4. Verify the fuel selection dial is turned to the desired fuel.
Turn the dial to the “GASOLINE” position for gasoline and
the “PROPANE” position for LPG. Check that there is ad-
equate supply of the selected fuel.
5. Make sure all electrical devices are unplugged from the
generator during ignition. Otherwise it will be difficult for
the engine to start.
STARTING THE GENERATOR
WARNING!
The LPG cylinder valve must be
shut OFF when using gasoline. The generator’s
fuel valve must be shut OFF when using LPG.

NOTE:
Allow the engine to run for several minutes be-
fore attempting to connect any electrical devices. This
allows the generator to stabilize its speed and temper-
ature. Follow the instructions in the next section for
properly connecting your electrical devices.
NOTE:
In case you have had repeated failed attempts
to start the engine, please consult the troubleshooting
guide before attempting to start the generator. If prob-
lems persist please call

, M-F 8-5 CST.
a. To start the engine with electric starter:
5. Press the engine start switch.
6. Slowly move choke lever to the OPEN/RUN posi-
tion. If engine fires, but does not continue to run, move
choke lever to CLOSE/START position and repeat start-
ing instructions.
b. To start the engine with recoil starter:
5. Pull on the recoil starter handle slowly until a slight
resistance is felt, then pull quickly to start the engine.
Return cord gently into the recoil starter. Never allow
the cord to snap back.
If the engine fails to start, repeat this step.
6. Once the engine has started, slowly return the choke
lever all the way to the OPEN/RUN position.
7. Connect electrical devices.
STARTING THE GENERATOR
1. To use gasoline, turn the fuel valve to the ON position (Fig. 11). To use LPG, make sure all of the LPG connectors
and hoses are well connected and sealed. Close the fuel valve, then open the LPG tank valve.
2. Move the choke lever (Fig. 12 - 1) to the CLOSE/START position.
3. Turn the fuel selector switch to “GASOLINE”.
4. Make sure the battery is connected. See p. 18 for more information.
