PRUNER

CHAIN TENSION

Periodically during use, check the tension of the chain. It is important to maintain proper chain tension. Incorrect chain
tension can cause the guide bar to wear and the chain to come o

. To check the chain tension:

Switch the engine o

Wear work gloves

The chain must

fit

snugly against the underside of the guide bar.

You should be able to pull the chain away from the guide bar, 5-6mm or pull the chain along the guide bar by hand.

A new chain has to be tensioned more o

Clean the chain

Check for cracks in the link and damaged rivets

Replace damaged or worn components of the chain and ensure new parts match the speci

chain.

If your chain needs sharpening, a 5/32” chain

 fi

le should be used. We recommend the use of Handy Parts HP-106 or

alterna

vely, contact your local Approved Dealer to undertake the sharpening. Incorrectly sharpened chains can

increase the risk of Kickback, with resu

A new chain should be broken in for about 2-3 minutes. A
