21.4 Manifold and Controls
21.5 Burner
Manifold Periodically check gas control assembly and internal and external piping for
leaks. Relief
v ent lines to o u tdoors on gas controls sho u ld be checked to
ens u re against blockage ca u sed by insects or any other s u bstance. Clean as
req u ired.
All gas piping to the air handler m u st comply w ith the National F u el Gas Code
- NFPA54, latest edition and all local codes. Verify gas so u ndness of each
SSOV (Safety Sh u t Off Val v e). This test m u st be repeated after the first 100
ho u rs of operation.

Air Flow Switch An ann u al check of the t u bes attached to the air flo w s w itch sho u ld be made
to ens u re against blockage ca u sed by insects or any other s u bstance. Clean
as req u ired.

Electric Components Check for physical damage on any of the electric components and v erify all
electrical connections are sec u re. Ens u re eq u ipment is properly gro u nded.
Temperature Sensors Calibrate space, o u tdoor air, and discharge air sensors as req u ired.
See Page 63, Section 20.2.3 .
An ann u al inspection of the b u rner and components m u st be made to ens u re
proper and safe operation. For the most part, the b u rner is self cleaning.
Ho w e v er, if the application is extremely dirty or d u sty, it may become neces-
sary to periodically clean the b u rner. Inspect and clean the b u rner in accor-
dance w ith the follo w ing recommended proced u res:
1. To a v oid damaging the v al v es, disconnect the b u rner piping from the
manifold, at the u nion, and co v er the exposed end of the manifold. See
Page 37, Figure 18 through Page 38, Figure 21 .
2. Remo v e the pilot assembly. See Page 43, Section 16.6.4 .
3. Remo v e the ignition cable from the igniter on the side of the b u rner, and
then remo v e the spark igniter. Clean the igniter contacts w ith a w ire
br u sh. Set the gap to 0.125" (3.17 mm).
4. Inspect each of the stainless steel mixing plates to see that all of the air
holes are free of debris. Clean
w ith a w ire br u sh as necessary.
5. The b u rner orifices may need to be drilled to u npl u g any closed orifices.
Use a pin v ise w ith the appropriate drill to clean debris from the orifices.
An electric drill is not s u ggested beca u se it is easy to snap drill bits off
in the orifices.
6. Reinstall the pilot assembly. Reconnect the b u rner piping to the mani-
fold at the u nion.
