Operation of the "Gas Sentinel" gas leak detector
The "Gas Sentinel" gas leak detector is provided with a series of indicator lamps which, depending on
the status of the instrument, assume various meanings:
Warm-up of the sensor element (during this period the leak detector is not active):
A warm-up time of 2.5 minutes is provided starting from switching on of the gas leak detector, during
which the LEDs are lit up in rotation. After the warm-up time, the leak detector goes into normal
condition: when the green LED is lit up, it signals power on and the normal operating condition of the
detector.
Normal operation:
during normal operation, the leak detectors perform self-diagnostics of the electronic circuit. If there
are faulty conditions (e.g. breakage of the sensor element) the leak detector indicates the fault through
the lighting up of the yellow LED.
The lighting up of the flashing yellow LED indicates reaching of the expected work life of the
instrument (5 years). After such indication, the leak detector operates normally but its replacement is
recommended (the internal sensor element is subject to natural aging).
Alarm:
The "Gas Sentinel" gas leak detector is provided with an alarm delay timer to avoid faulty indications
due to momentary increases in concentration of the gas. When the alarm threshold is exceeded, the
intermittent optical (red LED) and audible (internal buzzer) alarms are given. If the gas concentration
exceeds the alarm threshold, the red LED lights and if the alarm persists for a sufficient time
(approx. 30 sec.) the gas leak detector enters the alarm status: the alarm light becomes steady and
the buzzer is activated, while the relay causes closing of the solenoid valve.
Warning: use only manual resetting solenoid valves.
