Problem
Cause
Solution
Motor does not turn on
Remote assembly not connected properly
Check remote lead and connections.
Loose battery cable connections
Check battery and connections.
Defective remote assembly
Replace remote lead assembly.
Defective motor
Check for voltage at armature port with Switch
pressed. If no voltage is present, replace motor.
Water has entered motor
Allow to drain and dry. Run hoist until completely
dry.
Motor overheating
Hoist running for too long
Allow hoist to cool down periodically.
Motor runs in one direction only
Loose or corroded battery cable or motor cable
connections.
- Clean and tighten.
-Repair or replace switch assembly.
Motor tries to powerout but hoist stalls or
locks-up
Load brake failure
Service or replace load brake
Hoist operates in both directions but will not
lift rated load
Low voltage at hoist
A) Be sure wiring cable size guidelines have been
met. B) Check condition of battery. C) Check all
power wiring and connections for corrosion. Clean
and tighten connections
Hoist slows down and stalls during power- out
Brake needs service
Service or replace load brake.
Hoist vibrates badly or is noisy during lifting or
lowering of load
Brake needs servicing
Service or replace load brake.
Mounting surface is not flat Tie rod or tie bar
is bent
Check to make sure mounting surface is flat to
/- 0.020 in. (0.50 mm). Replace tie rod or
tie bar if necessary. Check for bent or cracked
housings.
