Function
The sensor detects the outside brightness of a facade.
This physical measured quantity is converted into electri-
cal signals and evaluated in the sun protection central unit
or in the sensor unit.
Mounting
■
The sensor may not be mounted in the building
shadow, because the ambient brightness or direct sun
irradiation decisive for the corresponding application is
otherwise not ensured.
■
Before carrying out mounting take into account that
trees, bushes or parts of buildings could cast a
shadow on the sensor during the course of the day.
In this case the sensor cannot supply exact measured
values, the measured result is invalidated. Therefore,
select the mounting site with care. Further information
about mounting can be found in the documentation for
your sun protection central unit.
NOTICE:
In case of sun protection units on one facade
side the sensor must be mounted so that the
photo diode points in the same direction as the
sun protection unit. In the case of sun protection
units across several facade sides one sensor
is necessary per façade. This is then to be
mounted in the photo sensor housing depend-
ing on the building corners.
Further information about mounting can be found in the
documentation for your sun protection central unit.
Electrical connection
Electrical connection is carried out in accordance with
Fig. 3.
■
The maximum length of the connecting cable may not
exceed 50 m at the specified cable types. When sev-
eral sensors are used, it is advisable for the customer
to provide a branching box in order to facilitate the
wiring work.
■
Select a variant that is suitable for the respective
ambient conditions (for external mounting for example
IP65). However, 8xAWG 24 is recommended (resistant
to ultraviolet rays) to connect the sensor.
■
If you have received project-specific terminal diagrams
for your sun protection system, please also observe
the connection information in this documentation.
An on-site overload current protection device (fuse) and a
disconnecting and isolating switch to switch off the entire
system must be provided.
Commissioning
The device is ready to operate after the mounting work
has been completed and the supply voltages applied.
General remarks
Fig. 1
"Photo" sensor (heated)
The sensor is connected to a sun protection central unit
or to the LONSE and allows light-dependent control of
sun protection products such as roller shutters or outside
venetian blinds. Thanks to the special design of the sensor
an almost direction-independent sensitivity is reached in
the elevation angle of between 0° and 90° and in the azi-
muth between 0° and 360°. The sensor can be heated in
order to avoid dew or Icing of the dome light. The sensor
is mounted in a specially developed photo sensor enclo-
sure (8-fold) on a standpipe on the outside.
Intended use
The "Photo" sensor (heated) was developed to control sun
shading systems. The approval of the manufacturer must
be obtained for uses outside of the purposes listed in
these instructions.
Safety instructions
WARNING
The electrical installation must be per-
formed by a certified electrician in accord-
ance with the electrical installation regu-
lations published by the Association of
German Electrical Engineers (VDE 0100)
or the standards and regulations of the
country. The specialist must observe the
installation instructions included with the
electrical device.
WARNING
The device may only be operated with
safety extra-low voltage (SELV).
WARNING
If hazard-free operation cannot be as-
sumed, the device may not be started or
must be deactivated. This assumption is
justified
If the housing or the supply lines show
signs of damage,
The device is no longer working.
