7.8 Grapple Push Bar
(LXG430S, LXG430R and LXG430RP models)
The LXG430 models have a heavy duty 19" (48 cm) push bar to
aid in felling trees. Use the push bar to help direct the fall path of
the tree when it is being cut down.
IMPORTANT! Do not subject the push bar to severe impact.
Damage to the machine can result.

Risk of injury or death from falling trees.
Plan tree fall direction ahead of time. Check
surrounding conditions prior to cut.

There are several factors that may affect and change the
intended direction of fall, e.g. wind, lean of tree, sloping ground,
one-sided limb structure, wood structure, decay, snow load,
and so on. To reduce the risk of severe or fatal injury to yourself
or others, look for these conditions prior to beginning the cut,
and be alert for a change in direction during fall.
1. Check the fall path is clear. There are no bystanders in the
area.
2. Check for hazards such as utilities, dead hanging branches,
and so on.
3. Check for tree lean. Make sure that the tree can fall in the
direction you want it.
4. Plan an escape route. Make sure you have a clear path to
get out of the way.
5. Drive the skid steer up to the tree in the direction of the fall
line. Use the push bar to apply slight pressure to the upper
tree.
6. Cut a notch in the side of the tree fall direction.
7. Begin back cut at the bottom of the tree, on the same side
as the grapple.
8. When the tree begins to fall, stop cutting and stand clear of
the tree base.
