JOINTING AN EDGE
This is the most common operation for the jointer. These cuts are made to square an edge of a
work piece that already has one flat face to rest against the fence. Set the fence square with the
table. Depth of cut should be the minimum required to obtain a straight edge. Hold the flat face
your previously machined against the fence and downward with a push block throughout the feed.

OTHER OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS
-- Do not perform jointing operations on material shorter than (a dimension equal to the cutter head
length plus 2 in), narrower than ¾ in, or less than ¼ in thick.
-- Do not perform planing operations on material shorter than (a dimension equal to the cutter head
length plus 2 in), narrower than ¾ in, or wider than (the cutter capacity in inches) or thinner than
1/ 2 in.
-- Maintain the proper relationships of infeed and outfeed table surfaces and cutter head knife path.
-- Support the work piece adequately at all times during operation; maintain control of the work at
all times.
-- Do not back the work toward the infeed table.
-- Do not attempt to perform an abnormal or little-used operation without study and the use of
adequate hold-down/push blocks, jigs, fixtures, stops, and the like
