The USB port provides two functions:

Media port for USB thumb drives:

a.)   HR8D, HR8AD and HR8A

•  The USB port will not charge a 

portable device when the unit 
is turned OFF.

b.)  HR8D Only 

• 

When a DVD is playing, the USB 
port can be used for charging a 
portable device, but it will be 
limited to 1 Amp of charging 
current.

•  When the unit is not in DVD 

mode or USB mode, the USB 
port can be used for charging 
a portable device with up to
2 Amps of charging current.

c.)   HR8AD and HR8A Only

•  When the unit is not in USB,
