Group 87 Climate Control, Fault Codes
Troubleshooting
MID 146 PID 170 Temperature Sensor, Cab
T8008633
T8008576
Component: A34 Climate Control Unit, B59 Sensor,
Indoor temperature
General information
The sensor measures the temperature in the cab. The
temperature signal is used to control the temperature in
the cab. The sensor also contains a circulation fan ( which
helps renew the air flow across the sensor ) and is located
in the center of the dash near the ash tray.
Fault code
FMI 3
Abnormally high voltage or short-circuit to higher voltage.
Conditions for fault code:
•
If the control unit detects a voltage higher than 4.86V
the control unit interprets this as an error and a fault
code is stored.
Possible cause:
•
Connector to sensor disconnected
•
Signal cable short-circuited to higher voltage
•
Ground lead short-circuited to higher voltage
•
An ECC control unit was mistakenly installed in place
of an MCC control unit
Reaction from the control unit:
•
Fault code is stored
•
Yellow lamp requested
Noticeable external symptoms:
•
Yellow lamp lights up
•
Considerably reduced temperature control
Appropriate check:
•
See “MID 146 PID 170 Temperature Sensor Cab,
Check” page 44
•
Check control unit part numbers for correct installation.
Wrongly installed parts may appear to function
correctly, but will give very poor cooling/heating
performance.
FMI 4
Abnormally low voltage or short-circuit to lower voltage
Conditions for fault code:
•
If the control unit detects a voltage lower than 0.7 V
the control unit interprets this as an error and a fault
code is stored.
Possible cause:
•
Signal cable short-circuited to ground
•
Faulty sensor
Reaction from the control unit:
•
Fault code is stored
•
Yellow lamp requested
Noticeable external symptoms:
•
Yellow lamp lights up
•
Considerably reduced temperature control
Appropriate check:
•
See “MID 146 PID 170 Temperature Sensor Cab,
Check” page 44
