Connection
Be careful not to short-circuit the input and output lines. Keep the cables
separate. If necessary, use the terminal strip supplied.
Switch off the power supply before making any connections, and secure
against being unintentionally switched on again.
Connect the power meter as shown below before first use.
Method a
1 Standard connection
2 Connection with external power supply (via enclosed micro-USB cable)
Method b
When using method B, the positive output of the power meter is not connected!
3 Standard connection
4 Connection with external power supply
a) Connecting inputs/outputs
1 Connect a power supply with a voltage of 5 - 60 V/DC to the input. Make sure that the
polarity is correct when connecting the lines. The red line is positive (+), the black line is
negative (-).
Connect the device only after you have carried out the pre-check.
2 Perform a pre-check before connecting the device. Switch on the mains voltage again
and check whether the display is lit. If it is not lit, check whether the cables are connected
using the wrong polarity.
3 During start-up, the firmware version is displayed on the display.
4 If necessary, delete the values which are stored in the memory by performing the steps
described in „START-UP - b) Resetting measured values“.
5 Connect the device. Ensure you insert them in the correct polarity. The red line is positive
(+), the black line is negative (-).
b) (Optional connection of the external power supply)
If an external power supply (5 V/DC, not included in the delivery) is used, the measuring range
extends from 5 - 60 V/DC to 0 - 60 V/DC.
The external power supply is connected via a USB interface (see 7. Control elements, No. 6).
c) More Information
1 Pay attention to the effective current direction. The energy source is on the left side and
the loads - the energy sinks are on the right side. This is indicated by the arrows pointing
towards the flow direction. Disconnect all the cables from any power sources before
installing the device.
2 Use at least the wire size (AWG 14
2,05 mm²) of the power meter lines for the
electrical installation.
3 The use of rigid lines may lead to broken cables. Use flexible lines.
4 If terminal strips (included in the delivery) are used, all (non-rigid) cables must have end
splices. Check the crimped cable ends. All wires of a strand must be enclosed in the
splice in order to ensure the total cable cross-section. The length of the wire end splice
contact surface should be 6 - 7mm.
5 Undo the screws of the terminal strip and insert the wires until the insulation sits above
the edge of the contact surface inside the terminal. Hold in position and tighten the
screws. Insert the other strand into the opposite side as far as the edge of the contact
surface and tighten the screw. If you cannot push the wire into the terminal strip far
enough, check the length of the end splice.
6 After assembling, check and re-tighten all the screws.
Start-up
a) Switching the device on and off
1 Make sure that all cables are properly connected and not short-circuited.
2 Turn the power on.
3 During start-up, the firmware version and the factory default
mode for data connection is displayed on the display. The power
meter starts only when a power supply is connected.
b) Setting the Recording Interval (Sampling Time)
The „Sampling Time“ screen appears when the start-up process is complete.
1 To get into the menu (Sampling Time) to adjust the recording
(intervals, press and hold the RESET button during the start-up
sequence for up to 5 seconds. The text „Sampling Time 180s“ is
shown on the display.
2 You can preset the values for the recording interval in the range of 30 and 180 seconds.
The various positions are adapted one after the other. Starting from the left, the hundreds
come first. Then, tens and ones are entered.
3 To change the values press briefly the
RESET- button.
4 To confirm the digit place press and hold the RESET button. The
display shows „OK“. The value is now confirmed. After that you
can enter the other places in the same way.
5 Repeat steps 3 and 4 to do this.
6 After the last place of the „Sampling Time“ is confirmed, a letter
appears in the upper right corner. „Y“ is“YES“, accept the set
value, or „N“ which is „NO“ ’to discard the settings and assign a
new value. Press briefly to switch between the points.
7 The set time value is accepted by pressing and holding the
RESET button when ‚Y‘ is selected. Now the display shows
measured data. In case „N“ is the selected menu item, repeat
these steps starting from point three.
MEASURING
1 Voltage (V):
shows the current voltage in volts.
2 Current (A):
shows the present current in amperes.
3 Power (W):
shows the current power consumption in watts.
The power measurement value is temporarily faded out to show the runtime when
the display value changes within the cycle.
4 Cyclic change of the display value (scrolling display)
