Description of functions

The DC output of the power supply unit is electrically isolated and features protective separation
from the mains voltage.

The output voltage can be switched from 12.0 to 13.8V through the „RANGE“ (9) toggle switch.
The output voltage can be adjusted with the help of the two fine-tuning regulators (4/8) in the
+/- 0.5V range.

The current limit is set permanently to max. 6 A and cannot be changed. the momentary output
voltage (V) and the output current amperage (A) is shown in the display.

A secondary side DC connection is possible via two coloured 4mm safety sockets (10 and 11).

The power supply unit is cooled by convection; ensure there is sufficient ventilation and space.

If the current limit is exceeded through overload or short-circuit, then this is
signalled via the „CC“ display. The output voltage is reduced electronically
and the output is switched off to avoid damage to the power supply unit.

First Time Use

General

To operate the power supply unit you need a mains lead with shock-proof plug (not included).
Connect the mains lead to the IEC input (16) on the rear of the power supply unit and plug the
mains plug into an earthed mains socket.

You can order a suitable mains cable under order number 51 02 62.

The power supply is not a charger. To charge batteries, use suitable
chargers with a charging current cut-off.
Always turn the device off when it is not in use.

Setting the desired output voltage

Ensure that there are no loads connected to the mains power supply.

Switch on the mains power supply at the power switch (1). The power indicator (2) should light
up.

Set the desired output voltage (12V or 13.8V) with the help of the toggle switch (9). The output
voltage is displayed.

You can adjust the output voltage with a screwdriver at the two fine-tuning regulators (4 or 8) in
the +0.5V and -0.5V range.

Fine-tuning regulator „ADJUST 12V“ (4) for the 12.0V range
Fine-tuning regulator „ADJUST 13.8V“ (8) for the 13.8V range

The output voltage is indicated on the display (3).

Connecting a device

Make sure that the load is switched off when making connections to
the power supply unit. If the load is switched on, it can cause
sparking while connecting to the sockets. This can damage the
sockets, as well as the connected cables.

Verify that the correct output voltage has been set on the power supply unit.

Connect the positive terminal (+) of the load with the red socket „+“ (10) and the negative
terminal (-) of the load with the blue socket „-“ (11).

The connection is made using standard 4mm plugs.

The green/yellow earthing potential socket is connected to the earthing conductor directly.

The current indicator „A“ (3) displays the current that the connected load draws.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Except for replacing the fuse and occasional cleaning, the power supply unit does not require
any maintenance.
Use a dry, clean, lint-free, antistatic cloth to clean the device. Do not use any abrasive or che-
mical agents or detergents containing solvents.

Always unplug the power supply unit from the mains socket before
cleaning the device.

Fuse replacement

If it is no longer possible to switch on the power unit, the mains fuse is probably defective.

Proceed as follows to replace the mains fuse:

Turn off the power supply unit and remove all connecting cables from the unit. Pull the mains
plug from the rear connection (16).

Remove the rear fuse holder (15) with a suitable screwdriver from the bracket, as displayed.

Replace the defective fuse with a new fine-wire fuse (5 x 20 mm) of the same type and rated
current: T1A / 250V (inert).

Replace the fuse carefully into the fuse holder.

Troubleshooting

By purchasing this power supply unit you have acquired a product that has been designed to
the state of the art and which is operationally reliable. Nevertheless, problems or faults may
occur. Which is why we would like to describe here how to solve any problems:

Please always observe the safety instructions!

Problem Solution

The operation indicator

No mains voltage?

does not light up

•

Check the line safety switch of this mains socket

Check whether the mains plug is seated correctly in the
mains socket

Check the mains fuse in the power supply unit.

The „OT“ indicator is lit

The power supply unit has overheated.

Remove all the load and turn the power supply unit off. Let
the power supply unit cool down for a min. 30 minutes.
Check the technical data (ambient temperature etc.).

Connected

Correct voltage set?

loads

Is the polarity correct?

do not function.

Has the power supply overloaded or is the current limitation (dis-
play „CC“) active?
Check the technical data of the load.

The „CV“ indicator is lit

The power supply unit is working in the normal constant voltage

mode.

Repairs, other than those just described, should only be carried out by an
authorised specialist. Check the technical safety of the device on a regular
basis e.g. for damage to the housing etc. Any changes and repairs you make
on the device will render the guarantee/warranty null and void.

Disposal

Electronic products are raw material and do not belong in the household waste.
When the device has reached the end of its service life, please dispose of it,
according to the current statutory requirements, at your local collecting site.
Disposal in the domestic waste is not permitted!
