Configuring General System Settings
Now that the most important sections of setting up are complete, we will walk you through the remaining menu
settings to complete the system configuration.
BASS level - This setting controls the level of LOW FREQUENCY BASS signals in the MASTER MUSIC OUTPUT.
The range of BASS to select from is from -10dB to +10dB. NOTE: This setting does not affect the bass level for
microphone output.
TREBLE level - This setting controls the level of HIGH FREQUENCY TREBLE signals in the MASTER MUSIC
OUTPUT. The range of TREBLE to select from is from -10dB to +10dB.
D. RANGE level - This setting controls the range of DYNAMIC COMPRESSION used to normalize the master
volume output.
Many movie soundtracks have vastly differing speech, environmental and special effects audio levels. In fact, most
movie soundtracks have dramatic audio peaks designed to punctuate the action onscreen that can be 5 to 6
times louder in volume than speech. DYNAMIC COMPRESSION is used to balance this DYNAMIC RANGE between
the lower (speech) and higher (peaks) audio levels by slightly boosting and lowering particular portions of the
audio.
The DYNAMIC RANGE can be set to either MINIM (MINIMUM), STAND (STANDARD) or MAXIM (MAXIMUM). The
MINIMUM setting applies a compression level suitable for late night viewing, greatly reducing peak levels without
reducing speech and environmental audio. The STANDARD setting applies a compression level recommended by
most audio engineers for attaining an optimal sound while preventing any possible hearing damage if heard at
high output levels. The MAXIMUM setting bypasses compression altogether, allowing for the full dynamic range of
cinema.
D.D LFE level - This setting controls the level of LOW FREQUENCY BASS sent from the SUB OUT jack to a
5.1/6.1-channel subwoofer in DOLBY DIGITAL/DOLBY DIGITAL EX audio modes.
The range of BASS to select from is 00dB to -10dB.
DTS LFE level - This setting controls the level of LOW FREQUENCY BASS sent from the SUB OUT jack to a
5.1/6.1-channel subwoofer in DTS/DTS ES audio modes.
The range of BASS to select from is 00dB to -10dB.
NOTE:
This setting does not affect the treble level for microphone output.
NOTE:
This setting DOES NOT affect the subwoofer bass level for DOLBY
DIGITAL/DOLBY DIGITAL EX, PRO-LOGIC I - II, STANDARD ANALOG and KARAOKE
MODE audio output.
NOTE:
This setting DOES NOT affect the subwoofer bass level for DTS, DTS-ES,
PRO-LOGIC I - II, STANDARD ANALOG and KARAOKE MODE audio output.
