d) Verifying the connection between the PC and evaluation board using RS-232 Port (TWSI):

The software default for the serial port is

. The

Message Window

located at the

bottom of the register window provides various notification and error messages. If the Message Window indicates
that the microcontroller did not respond or serial port is incorrect then try a different COM port by selecting one in
the Options dialog box. The Options dialog is activated by selecting “

View

” from the program menu or

by click on the “

OpenOption.txt

” script, which will open the

Options

window as shown below:

If the PC software is able to communicate with the microcontroller, it will display the firmware version. This
confirms that the PC is communicating with the board and then you can close the Options dialog box.
