1. Place liquids and soft foods in the container first, solid items and ice
last. Although not necessary for processing, you may want to cut or
break food into smaller pieces for more precise measuring of
ingredients. Thawed or partially thawed fruit is recommended. HIGH
speed (or highest button on models with electronic controls) is
recommended for heavy-duty blending.
2. Set the container on the motor base by aligning it over the centering
pad anchored to the base.
(Motor must be completely stopped
before positioning container.)
Containers are not to be used for
hard, dry materials. Avoid running your machine with the container empty.
3. Always operate the machine with the complete two-part lid locked in
place (unless the accelerator tool/tamper is inserted through the lid or
for regular PBS applications, when the splash guard is in place). If
blending hot ingredients, the lid must be securely locked in place.
When processing hot liquids, DO NOT use a non-latching or one-
piece lid.
4. Select the desired timer settings, or pre-set blending program. For
machines with variable speed or HIGH/LOW controls, select the desired
pseed. Most foods are blended on a HIGH speed. Start heavy or thick
foods on a low or variable speed then switch to a HIGH speed once the
mixture begins processing. Hot mixtures and very full containers should
be started on a LOW or VARIABLE speed, and then switch to a HIGH
speed.
4a. If mixture stops circulating, you have likely trapped an air bubble.
Either insert the accelerator tool/tamper (sold separately for some
models) through the lid while blending, or stop the motor, remove
the container from the base and stir or scrape the mixture from the
sides of container into the center using a rubber spatula to press
any air bubbles away from the blades. Replace the lid and continue
blending.
4b. Due to the blending speed of the machine, processing times are
greatly reduced over other manufacturers’ machines. Until you
become accustomed to the speed, watch your mixture carefully to
avoid over-blending.
5. After the blender has been stopped, wait until the blade comes to
a complete stop before removing the lid and/or container from
the motor base.
6. Remove the container, pour, garnish and serve the drink.
7. Turn power OFF and/or unplug the machine at night or whenever
machine will be left unattended.
Maintenance Tips:
• Neve r bang the container against a surface to loosen the ingredients.
Remove the container from the base and use a rubber spatula to
remove thick mixtures from the bottom of your container.
•
Never
shake or rattle a container while in use.
• Never remove the container before the machine has come to a
complete stop.
•
Never
start the motor before the container is in place.
Additional Instructions for the Portion
Blending System (PBS) Ice Bin
1.
DO NOT
fill the ice bin higher than ice bin rim.
2. Make sure ice bin lid is properly in place before operating the machine.
3.
DO NOT
place objects on the container or touch the container while
the machine is running. This will affect ice portion control.
4. Using ice from an ice-making machine works best in the PBS. Shape
and size of the ice cube may affect the machine’s operation. The colder,
drier and harder the ice, the better the blended results.
DO NOT
use
block ice or large chunks of unseparated cubed ice. Avoid using bagged
ice that has been stored in a freezer at extremely low temperatures. Use
of this type of ice may result in freeze-up of the shaver. When bagged
ice must be used, it should be stored in an ice chest for at least one
hour before use.
WARNING:
If you detect a change in the sound of the machine or if a hard or foreign
object comes into contact with the blades,
DO NOT
serve the drink/food.
Inspect your blade assembly for loose, nicked or missing parts. If parts are
loose, missing or nicked, replace with new blade assembly. (See the
machine’s detailed Use and Care Manual online for details.)
IMPORTANT NOTES!
For models with electronic controls:
On all units, the built-in thermal
protector keeps track of the motor temperature and will warn the user and
eventually shut down the motor if the motor is overheating. When
overheated, the display will instruct the user to remove the container and
run the machine until cool. This takes about two minutes. When the
thermal protector shuts the motor off, review your processing techniques
and your instructions. Your recipes may be too thick or have too much
material in them. Consider adding more liquid or testing another program.
For models with pre-set programming dials or switches:
The thermal
protector may shut the motor off to protect it from overheating. To restart,
wait for motor to cool down with the power off (up to 45 minutes).
Cooling may be quickened by placing the motor base in a cool spot.
Unplug first. To speed up the process, try circulating the air with a vacuum
or fan aimed at the bottom of the base. When the thermal protector shuts
the motor off, review your processing techniques and your instructions.
Your recipes may be too thick (add liquid), be processed too long at too
low a speed setting (try another pre-set blending program if available) or
have too much material in them. If the motor seems to be overheating but
the thermal protector has not turned the machine off, stop the machine
and remove the container from the base.
For the BarBoss and Drink Machine Timer blenders:
Set the timer for
20 seconds. Turn the machine ON and let the machine run for 20 seconds.
Repeat this step 3 times for a total of 1 minute. Be careful never to touch
any moving parts while in use.
For the Two-Speed or Variable Speed Drink Machines, Vita-Pro and
Vita-Prep blenders:
Set the dial on HIGH (#10). Turn the machine ON
and let the machine run for 1 minute. Be careful never to touch any
moving part while in use.
