1. Setting up the device
Place the enclosed batteries in the device if they
have not already been inserted (see page 45,
Changing
batteries).
If you want to operate the device from the mains,
insert the plug on the mains adaptor (see
Accessories) into the socket on the right side
of the device.
The batteries are switched off automatically.
2. Fitting the cuff
Bare your left upper arm. Slide the open cuff onto
your upper arm until the bottom edge of the cuff
is 2-3 cm above the inside of the elbow. When
the cuff is used on the left arm, the air tube runs
over the middle of the inside of the elbow to the
monitor; in this way, the 4 cm long artery marking
is located over the pulse position.
When the cuff is used on the right arm, turn the
sleeve as far to the left as possible until the artery

Check whether the arrow on the cuff is within the white mark
at the edge of the cuff (arm circumference 23-43 cm).
Operation of the device
Important:
Never use the cuff above a critical part of the body
(e.g. wound, intravascular access).
