4.4 SEQUENCER

The 

Cadet 21

 has an on-board sequencer for recording performances (i.e. MIDI tracks with  notes 

and parameters changes during the execution). There are two recordable tracks. To choose one press 

[TRACK]

 button.

In order to 

RECORD A TRACK

 you must choose the track to record (indicated by 

[TRACK] 

button's LED), then press 

[

REC]

 and then 

[START/STOP]

 button to start recording. At the end of 

the performance, the recording must be stopped using 

[START/STOP]

.

Remember that at the start of a recording (pressing of 

[START/STOP]

 button) the actual registers 

configuration will be saved in the chosen track. We recommend that you check that the active 
registers are really the desired ones. If they're not, then, after pressing 

[

REC]

 activate the the 

desired voices and start recording pressing 

[START/STOP]

.

Note: it's also possible to start recording by starting to play the keyboard.

To cancel the recording procedure before starting just press 

[REC]

 another time.

To PLAYBACK A TRACK just choose one track with 

[TRACK] 

button and press 

[START/STOP]

.

 At the start of the playback the organ will modify the state of the registers by 

activating the ones used during the recording. It is possible to turn on or switch off registers and 
orchestral voices during playback. These changes are not saved in any mode. At the end of the 
playback the registers used during the execution of the track will remain active. To stop playing a 
track press

 

[START/STOP]

.

4.5 MIDI

MIDI BASICS

The MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) interface allows instruments of different makes and kinds to 
communicate with each other, using this very specific protocol of codes. This allows the creation of systems of MIDI 
instruments, offering much greater versatility and control than is possible with single instruments. To make this 
communication possible, all MIDI instruments have two or three 5-pin DIN connectors called:

MIDI IN: 

The connector through which the instrument receives the MIDI data transmitted by other units.

MIDI OUT: 

The connector through which the instrument sends the MIDI data it has generated to other units.

MIDI THRU: 

This connector (not provided on this instrument), is used for connecting several units in

series, since it transmits the MIDI data exactly as they are received by the respective MIDI IN port.
