6.4. Crimping the fitting with the crimper
6.4.1. Crimping the fitting
WARNING:
always keep your fingers, hands and any foreign body, away from the jaw during
the crimping cycle. Non compliance with this instruction may cause severe injuries.
▪ PLACE THE JAW ON THE FITTING. Open the jaw by hand by pressing both ends of the jaw. Place the fitting
between the jaw jaws.
▪ POSITION THE FITTING IN THE JAW PROFILE. Release the jaw jaws and align the jaw profile on the fit
-
ting. Ensure you hold the tool perpendicularly to the fitting.
▪ CHECK THE POSITION. Ensure the fitting is properly placed in the jaw profile.
▪ CRIMP THE FITTING. Press the feed trigger of the crimper and hold pressure up to the end of the crimping
cycle. NOTE: Always support the tool with your hand. Do not let the tool hang from the tube.
▪ WHEN PRESSING FOR THE FIRST TIME The cycle starts automatically. Should the “Cycle” LED
blink green, keep pressed until blinking stops (the piston returns to the starting position of the cycle).
Once the blinking has stopped, release the trigger. The machine is ready for a crimping cycle.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
▪ The jaws have a powerful jawing effect. Keep your fingers away from the jaws.
▪ When the press fitting machine has been plugged in, the two (2) LEDs light up green. The first time the
trigger is pressed, if the piston is in the starting position, the cycle starts immediately. Should this not be the
case, the piston replaces itself in starting position (the “Cycle” LED blinks green) and awaits for the trigger
to be pressed again.
▪ If the crimping cycle has been completed, the “Cycle” LED lights up green for 2 seconds and a long beep
sounds.
▪ If the crimping cycle is interrupted or incomplete, the “Cycle” LED lights up red for 5 seconds and 5 intermit
-
tent beeps are heard during 3 seconds.
▪ If the feed trigger is released before the end of the cycle, the tool stops and stays in position.
▪ To return to the initial position, press the trigger until the “Cycle” LED stops blinking green.
