By-alarm configurable 4-input expansion module for potential-free
contacts, cord for roller shutter, passive non-piezoelectric shock
detectors.
TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS
• Power supply: 12 V ± 20%
• Absorption: 18 mA max
• Input lines: No. 4 with single, double and triple balancing
• Connections: with 4 wires to one of the serial ports for connection to the RS485 bus
• Operating temperature: -10..+40 °C (indoor use)
• Dimensions: 76x47 mm
• Degree of safety: 2 (EN 50131-3)
• Ambient class: II (EN 50131-3)
INSTALLING THE EXPANSION MODULES
The module is connected to the control panel to one of the bus serial ports, following
the instructions given in the control panel's installation manual and respecting the
warnings.
• For installation, use halogen-free shielded cables suitable for installation with
Category 1 power cables (U0 = 400 V) such as cable art. 01733 (2x0.50
mm
2
+2x0.22 mm
2
).
• For the power supply, use wires with a minimum cross-section of 0.50 mm
2
observ-
ing the c and - polarity.
• Connect the signal cables A and B using conductors with a minimum section equal
to 0.22 mm
2
.
• The length of the connection with the wired sensors must not exceed 100 m.
• The shielding must be connected to the negative on the control panel side and left
free on the expansion module side.
Input zones
The module has 4 inputs and 2 push-buttons for protection against opening the
enclosure and against tearing it off the wall. The push-buttons protecting against
opening and against removal on the zone expansion card can be cut off by closing the
relevant jumpers alongside the buttons. The power supply to any sensors is carried
by the 2 terminals marked
+
and
-
, protected by the
resettable 500 mA fuse F1
next
to the power supply terminals.
Recessed connector
The device has a recessed connector;
it must not be used under any circumstances
as it is for internal testing and firmware updating; improper use may damage the
circuit.
ADDRESSING THE EXPANSION MODULES
For them to be recognised by the control panel, the expansion modules need to be
addressed by setting the DIP-switches on the printed circuit board; the settings that
can be made are listed in the following table:

Caution: The maximum number of expansion modules that can be installed
depends on the type of control panel used.
If the addressing made with the DIP-switches is changed with the module
switched on, to make it operational you need to press the push-button PB1 or
power cycle the device.
Amber LED
The amber LED on the expansion module lets you control functionality as follows:
•
On steady
: module properly powered but no serial communication.
•
Blinking at a frequency of 1 s
: module powered correctly and receiving serial
communications but these are sent with an incorrect address or no configuration
of the device in the control panel.
•
Blinking with one short pulse every second
: module powered properly and
correct serial communication.
CONFIGURATION OF THE MODULE 01709
The 4-input expansion module enables connecting also switch-alarms and mechan-
ical inertial sensors that generate short pulses close to each other for detecting the
opening of shutters or vibration of surfaces (cabinets, partitions, etc.).
The inputs are individually programmable for single, double and triple balancing.
Detection is based on three parameters: minimum duration of the imbalance, num-
ber of repetitions, and maximum length of the time window for counting the repeti-
tions.
The minimum duration and number of repetitions can be programmed; the
length of the time window is set at value of 60 s.
Caution
: If the line were to remain permanently out of balance for more than 30
seconds, an alarm condition of the control panel would in any case be generated.
