Maintenance
The V1961VCR receiver requires no routine maintenance. It will provide extended, trouble-free service under
normal operating conditions. External equipment and cabling should be checked before troubleshooting the
receiver in the event of a system failure. Repairs should only be attempted by qualified personnel in an
adequately equipped facility.
Printed Circuit Boards
Printed circuit boards contain static-sensitive components. Static discharge can destroy circuit boards beyond
repair. When working on printed circuit boards, ensure that the work area has a static-free surface and that
wrist straps and other static safeguards are used.
Fuse Replacement
There are three fuses [F1, F2 and F3 (heater option)] located on the receiver main board. A qualified
technician should determine whether or not the fuse blew due to an internal or external cause. Refer to
Figure 2 for fuse locations and the Technical Information section for fuse values.
If the problem is located in the unit, it must be repaired before the fuse is replaced. If the problem was
external (large voltage spike), the use of a line conditioner device is recommended for additional protection.
Use the following procedure to replace a fuse.
1. Prepare a static-free work surface and verify appropriate safeguards are in place.
2. Loosen the four screws on the receiver and fold back the hinged cover.
3. Disconnect the AC power supply wires. Cover or cap the wires to prevent shorting.
4. Locate the damaged fuses and carefully remove the plastic protective covers. Carefully pry up the fuses.
Caution: Do not substitute a fuse with a higher value. This defeats the purpose and can result in fire.
5. Insert the replacement fuses, taking care not to crush them.
6. Replace the protective covers over the fuses.
7. Uncover the AC power supply wires and reconnect them to the appropriate terminal block.
8. Fold back the hinged cover and secure it with the four screws.
