Installation
X356 Rev 598 V1961VCR-1 and V1961VCR-2 Vicoax Receivers
Installing and Wiring the Receiver
1. Mount the receiver box to a wall, or other vertical structure, near the camera to be controlled. The
maximum operating distance between the receiver and the camera station is determined by the particular
pan-and-tilt drive and motorized lens. Refer to the instruction manuals for the motorized lens and pan-
and-tilt units to establish this distance.
Caution: The receiver box must be positioned with the cable entry fittings facing downward and protected
from exposure to moisture when mounted outdoors. In addition, all unused cable entries must be
covered and moisture protected to prevent internal damage to the receiver.
Caution: The receiver must be properly grounded to ensure proper operation and protection.
2. Open the receiver by loosening the four captive screws and raise the hinged cover.
3. Route the receiver cables through the appropriate fittings and inside the box to the screw terminal block.
Refer to Figure 1.
Figure 1
Cable Entry Location
Note: The cable fittings accommodates 0.27 in. (0.69 cm) to 0.48 in. (1.22 cm) diameter cables.
4. Unscrew the domed sealing nut of each cable entry fitting used. Slip the nut over the cable, threads
facing the cable end, and slide the nut approximately 20 in. (51 cm) from the end of the cable. Feed the
cable through the cable entry fitting and tighten the domed sealing nut to firmly compress the compression
gland and secure the cable.
5. Strip approximately 6 in. (15 cm) of the outer cable covering. Strip 0.4 in. (1.0 cm) of insulation from each
wire and form a small loop of bare wire for terminal screw placement.
6. Wire TB1 according to Figure 2.
7. Set switch S1 to the closed position for RS-170 cameras and to the open position (1) for all other
cameras. See Figure 2.
