System Lens Cap Cleaning Procedure
WipWare camera enclosures use a glass lens cover which can be scratched if wiped when dry. Ideally
any dirt should be removed from lens cover, and the rest of the surface of the camera, by following a
“no touch” procedure: using compressed air or pressurized water. If using pressurized water, the lens
must be dried quickly afterwards with compressed air to avoid accumulating dust in the water droplets
left behind. For winter weather we suggest using windshield washer fluid that is rated for sub-zero
temperatures, if the camera is located in an external location or exposed to low temperatures.
Alternatively, an extremely damp microfiber cloth or paper towel is acceptable. In this case, after wiping
the lens clean with a wet implement, we suggest drying off the lens quickly to prevent dust from
accumulating in the droplets left behind. Using a micro fiber cloth or lightly drying the lens with paper
towel works well – just be sure to watch for lint from paper and cloth products, which can leave behind
linty residue and obscure the camera view, skewing the data results.
Cleaning Other System Components
All system components are ingress protected to NEMA 4 / IP66 standards. This indicates that the system
is "dust tight" and protected against heavy seas or powerful jets of water. You may easily use
compressed air or pressurized water to clean all other aspects of the system, including the lights. You
may also simply wipe down the system components with a damp microfiber cloth. Please review the
instructions for system lens covers above before proceeding with cleaning the rest of the system.
WARNING!
DO NOT CLEAN THE SYSTEM WITH THE LENS CAP REMOVED. THE SYSTEM IS VULNERABLE TO
WATER AND DUST INGRESS WHILE THE LENS CAP IS REMOVED.
