Place the rain gauge in an area where rain can fall directly into the container, ideally 2-3 feet (1 foot = 12
inches = 30.48 cm) above the ground. Please use the included screws to attach the device.
The rain gauge should be placed in an open area free of walls, fences, trees and other elements that can
either reduce the amount of rain, divert windblown rain, or cause more than the actual rain to be collected
in the gauge.
Trees and rooftops may be sources of dirt and pollen, which can block the rain gauge.
To avoid the rain shadow effect, place the device at a distance from the nearest obstacle equivalent to two
to four times the obstacle's own height.
It is important that excess rain can flow freely away from the rain gauge. Make sure that water does not
collect at the bottom of the device.
The rain gauge mechanism uses a magnet, so do not place magnetic objects near the
rain gauge.
O
UTDOOR LOCATION OF ANEMOMETER
Make sure that the wind can blow freely around the anemometer (wind gauge) and is not blocked by
nearby buildings, trees or other objects.
For best results, place the anemometer at least 10 feet above any other objects. The ground below the
device creates friction for the wind and will thus impair the measurements.
Try to install the anemometer so that it will be exposed to the most common wind directions in your area.
The recommended installation of the anemometer is 32 feet above the ground in a clear unobstructed
location.
Install the anemometer on a vertical surface using the included bracket.
C
ALIBRATION OF WIND DIRECTION
In order to calibrate the wind direction in the wind gauge, remove the battery cover by removing the
screws after installing the wind gauge in its final location.
Then, if necessary, using a map or compass, point the wind arrow to the north and click on the "SET"
button next to the batteries using a needle or the included installation tool.
Close the battery cover by inserting and tightening the screws.
Now the wind gauge knows which direction is north and is now calibrated.
This procedure must be followed for each battery change.
