Clean engine compartment daily or prior to each
use, to reduce the risk of engine overheating and
ignition of accumulated debris.
1. Park power unit on a level surface.
2. Engage parking brake and shut off engine.
3. Remove ignition key from switch.
4. Open engine hood to access the engine com-
partment.
5. Remove accumulated debris from engine com-
partment, particularly around the drive shaft
cover (A) and rotating screen.

Clean the oil cooler (B) using a brush or com-
pressed air to remove dust and debris.

BATTERY
AVOID PERSONAL INJURY!
Battery electrolyte contains sulfuric acid. It is
poisonous and can cause serious burns.
• Wear eye protection and gloves.
• Keep skin protected.
• If electrolyte is swallowed, get medical atten-
tion immediately.
• If electrolyte is splashed in eyes,
fl
ush imme-
diately with water for 15-30 minutes and seek
medical attention.
• If electrolyte is splashed onto skin,
fl
ush
immediately with water and get medical atten-
tion, if necessary.
The battery produces a fl ammable and explo-
sive gas. The battery may explode.
• Do not smoke near battery.
• Wear eye protection and gloves.
• Do not allow direct metal contact across bat-
tery posts.
• Remove negative cable
fi
rst when discon-
necting.
• Install negative cable last when connecting.

Removing:
1. Park power unit on a level surface.
2. Engage parking brake and shut off engine.
3. Remove ignition key from switch.
4. Tilt the seat plate forward and prop in place.
5. Disconnect the negative battery cable (A).
6. Disconnect the positive battery cable (B).
