Memory cards
In order to play MP3 files and to view JPEG images, a memory card is required,
CompactFlash cards
1)
and a compatible PCMCIA adapter. The adapter is then inserted
in the PCMCIA slot (wide slot) of the MC 5400.
Inserting PCMCIA adapter
☞
Push the memory card with the stored MP3 files into the PCMCIA adapter
(see adapter operating instructions).

With the arrow mark pointing forwards, push the adapter up to the limit stop in
the PCMCIA slot.
Removing PCMCIA adapter
☞
Press the eject button on the right of the PCMCIA slot and remove the adapter.
Operating software
The operating system of the MC 5400 is stored on a CompactFlash
®
card, which is
inserted in the CF slot of the multimedia centre. The CompactFlash
®
card can be
exchanged in the case of software updates or software extensions for the MC 5400.

Never remove the CompactFlash
®
card from the CF slot (narrow card slit) of the
MC 5400, if the red LED on the right of the CF slot still illuminates. This CF card contains the
operating system of the MC 5400. Failure to observe this results in danger of data loss or
even destruction of the unit.

Use only original VDO Dayton CF memory cards with operating software approved for
the MC 5400.

Never try to change or delete the data on the VDO Dayton CF card. Failure to observe
this results in danger of data loss or even destruction of the unit. Contravention invalidates
the MC 5400 warranty!
Inserting the CF card

Switch off the ignition.
☞
Wait until the red LED on the right of the CF slot no longer illuminates.
With the arrow mark pointing forwards, carefully push the CF card up to the limit stop
in the slot.
Removing the CF card
☞
Switch off the ignition.
☞
Wait until the red LED on the right of the CF slot no longer illuminates.
☞
Press the eject button on the right of the CF slot and remove the card.
